I wanted to recreate the popular Strawberry Acai Refresher at home for my daughters, not only to save some money but to have more control over the ingredients. This is by far their favorite drink, but I prefer to steer clear of food dyes and “natural flavors” commonly found in the Starbucks version. This copycat strawberry acai refresher recipe has quickly become a favorite in our house—just as vibrant and delicious as the original, but made with simple, cleaner ingredients.
Note: we tested it with acai powder, hoping to keep the signature acai flavor, but after a few taste tests, it was unanimous—the drink was better without it. The blend of freeze-dried strawberry, passion fruit juice, and white grape juice creates the perfect balance of sweetness and tang, with no need for the acai.
Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp freeze-dried strawberry powder
- 2/3 cup water
- 1/3 cup white grape juice
- 1/4 cup passion fruit juice
- freeze dried strawberries for garnish
Instructions:
- Make the slurry: In a glass measuring cup, combine the freeze-dried strawberry powder with 1/3 cup of water. Use a small electric whisk to fully dissolve the powder, creating a smooth slurry.
- Add liquids: Slowly add the remaining water, white grape juice, and passion fruit juice into the pitcher, whisking thoroughly.
- Serve and enjoy: Pour over ice, garnish with fresh or freeze dried strawberries, and enjoy your homemade Strawberry Acai Refresher!

A Less Sweet Variation
If you’re looking for a slightly less sweet version of the strawberry acai refresher, we’ve also tried tweaking the recipe. For a more tart, refreshing option, you can use 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup passion fruit juice, and still keep the 1 tablespoon of freeze-dried strawberry powder. This variation offers a little more tang with a less sugary finish!
So go ahead, skip the lines, save money, and enjoy a refresher at home.
