Consider this your new go-to every day waffle recipe when you want to start your day off with some comfort and warmth. They can be stored in the fridge, reheat well and come together in less than 10 minutes!

Waffles are a classic breakfast staple in our home because of their amazing crispy exterior, fluffy insides and deep pockets for holding syrup and butter! My family would have these waffles every single day. In fact, often for dinner we will turn these into breakfast sandwiches with bacon, cheddar cheese and a fried egg.

My girls love these waffles, and it’s my hope that when you make them, you can share them with the people you love as well. Gathered around the table, as the world is put on hold and the connection and conversation hums throughout the room.

Recipe yields 4 Belgium style (thick, deep pockets) waffles, or 10-12 thin Norwegian style waffles; which is dependent mainly on your style of waffle maker!

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt (I love Cabot’s 10% plain greek yogurt!)
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • 2 2/3 cup whole milk
  • 2 2/3 cups AP flour (feel free to sub a 1:1 GF flour if you’re gluten free)
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • pinch salt

  1. Plug in your waffle maker and set to medium high heat. Allow to preheat as you mix the batter.
  2. Beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the wet/dry ingredients (sans the melted butter) and whisk together for 1-2 minutes. Add in the melted butter and slowly whisk until incorporated.
  4. Let the batter rest 5 minutes.
  5. Spray your preheated waffle maker with nonstick cooking spray and follow the manufacturer instructions for batter amount per waffle.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy!
